We make them ourselves, from the wax up. Nothing is sourced, white-labelled or drop-shipped from somebody else's catalogue: it's melted, poured, cured, labelled, boxed and shipped from one building in Orange, California.

We pour soy, which is the fussier choice. Paraffin is forgiving. You can run it hot, pour it fast, and it sets clean almost every time. Soy won't let you. It wants a narrow temperature window, it takes days to cure, and it'll tell on you if you rush it, with a cracked top or a sunken ring around the wick.

We use it anyway, because it burns cleaner and holds its scent better. It just means the work is slower, and somebody has to be paying attention the whole way through.
